In today’s news, United Kingdom increases funding for humanitarian aid to Myanmar, sea urchins face global pandemic with unknown effects for the oceans, public smoking banned in Japan ahead of Expo 2025, researchers in United Kingdom develop new way to remove pollutants from water, Nobel Peace Prize nominee becomes first Southeast Asian woman to fly in space, university in Türkiye to receive funds from European Commission-funded project to study plant protein sources, and animal-people shelter in Maine, United States, teaches children how to care for animal-folk.

Water is a valuable resource. Hop to it and do your part to manage water in your area. Here is a cool tip on how to prevent flooding issues. Did you know gardens and planted areas absorb rainwater and prevent soil erosion? Permeable block, matrix (cellular) paving or grassed areas will reduce the capacity of gardens to absorb rainwater and raise the risk of flooding since deep-rooted plants absorb water and aerate the soil. Water butts play an important role in harvesting rainwater ‒ they can collect about 24,000 liters or more a year, decreasing the amount of rainwater that needs to be absorbed by the earth and saving you from using municipal water for the garden. There are even wall-mounted water butts for smaller spaces.

“Grandpa, how old are you now?”

“I’m 60 years old, my dear.”

“Wow, that must be really old, because I can’t even count that high yet.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Lam Giang in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam
