The healthy whole food vegan diet is the best choice for balancing your body’s hormones and staying healthy. I have a blood sugar tip to share with you! Hypoglycemia is a potentially serious condition in which blood sugar drops too low. Too much exercise, not eating enough, or skipping meals can cause it. Be sure to consult with your doctor prior to increasing your exercise or making any changes in your diet. Hypoglycemia symptoms differ depending on the severity of the reaction, but often include shaking, sweating, hunger, fast heartbeat, or dizziness. It often happens in people with diabetes who use insulin or certain medicines. Don’t ignore your symptoms if you suspect you’re having an episode of low blood sugar. If possible, use a finger-stick test to check your blood sugar. If it is low, use the 15/15 guideline – consume15 grams of carbohydrates and then wait 15 minutes. Examples are ½ cup of juice, ½ can of soda, a few candies, or 2 tablespoons of raisins. Consuming these will help raise your blood sugar levels quickly but won’t risk taking it too high.
