On today’s show, we meet with Klaus Mitchell, the founder of Plant Based News (PBN) to learn about the origins of PBN and how it reaches millions of viewers worldwide with such vital information. In 2019, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai gratefully presented the Shining World Compassion Award to Plant Based News plus a humble gift of US$15,000 in support of their noble endeavor. “My journey into veganism started [at] being interested in plant-based nutrition. I read a book called ‘The China Study,’ which talks about how the longest-lived cultures around the world eat a predominately plant-based diet. And this really inspired me to take the leap of faith and try it.” After discovering the widespread lack of awareness about how the plant-based diet offers such a simple and effective solution to our planet's dire problems, Klaus recognized the need for a single point of reference on the internet where people could get all the information they need about veganism and plant-based eating. And thus, Plant Based News was born, with the mission to spread the plant-based lifestyle as far and wide as possible. “And one of the things that I’ve done over the last few years is worked with Ali Tabrizi, the Director of Seaspiracy, and helped out with the script there. And that was just a phenomenal top ten, global Netflix documentary.” “People ask, ‘How do you reach so many people with Plant Based News?’ And, myself and Robbie, we just say ‘hard work.’ But I noticed that there was a hole in the market. Nobody was rounding off the news each week and talking about the big events, and commentating on these issues and reacting to the news in the form of videos, in the form of infographics, memes, website articles. And that’s really why myself and Robbie Lockie founded Plant Based News. Every single day we spend hours and hours on it. The movement changes. You’ve got to be agile. You’ve got to stay with the times. But put your head down and keep working. And that will be our secret.”
