In today’s news, UN-Habitat in Yemen receives contribution from Qatar, new studies reveal importance of early intervention for COVID-19, environmentalists reintroduce oysters to waterways around US city, World Food Programme uses rejected vegetables to feed schoolchildren in Kenya, museum in Denmark is dedicated to understanding happiness, analysts predict strong growth for textured vegetable protein market, and orca is blessed with new calf after losing previous one.

Qatar supports United Nations project to benefit Yemen.

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has received US$2 million from the Qatar Fund for Development to clear away debris created by years of conflict in the Yemeni city of Sa’dah. Much of the waste is hazardous to the public’s health and will be disposed of safely by trained professionals. The cleanup plan will also recruit young people to salvage rubble that can be used to repair and rebuild houses. The charitable organizations expect that removing some of the physical consequences of war will help purify the local environment, facilitate the return of displaced persons and improve their livelihoods. Our heartfelt appreciation, State of Qatar and United Nations Human Settlements Programme! May forever-compassionate Allah bestow boundless grace on the spirited Yemeni people as they seek to attain peace and safety, in Heaven’s embrace!

Researchers discover timing is key when combating viruses.

Several new studies suggest that a class of proteins called interferons may be able to suppress replication of the virus that causes COVID-19 when administered early on. A team at Cochin Hospital in Paris, France, found that severely affected patients had an exaggerated inflammatory response and a low interferon count. Also, the protein deficiency was worse in persons who died from the coronavirus compared with those who survived. Meanwhile, scientists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology noticed that in extreme cases of COVID-19, there was increased interferon activity in monocyte immune cells. This apparent contradiction in findings may be explained by the fact that as viruses replicate, they have their own proteins capable of suppressing immune molecules, including interferons. So, to be effective, it is crucial to boost the immune system before viral replication peaks. Otherwise, a delayed interferon response will summon too many monocytes, causing harmful inflammation and tissue damage. Thank you, dedicated researchers, for doing your best to find a cure for COVID-19. May an effective treatment soon become available as humanity makes more compassionate food choices, in Celestial favor and protection.

Up next, environmentalists reintroduce oysters to waterways around US city. We’ll take a moment to thank the enthusiastic vegan food writers, who promote the animal-free trend by reporting on vegan products and restaurants, interviewing vegan chefs and sharing their favorite vegan recipes. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more energizing news.

Hallo, Earth-loving friends! Lilly the vegan duckling here. Others say I look younger and cool – ah, because I’m vegan! If you need to be out and about during the pandemic, here are some tips on taking a taxi or using a ride-hailing service. Be sure to sit in the back seat so you are physically distanced from the driver as much as possible. If you didn’t pay for your ride in advance through an app, try tapping a contactless credit or debit card. This is faster and safer than using other means of payment. If you can’t avoid touching a payment terminal or cash, use hand sanitizer immediately afterward, or wash your hands with soap as soon as possible after leaving the car. This is a good example of why it’s smart to carry some sanitizer or disinfectant wipes with you all the time. Thank you for tuning in. Love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. And now, the worldwide weather.

New York City seeks to reestablish indigenous genus in adjacent waters.

Oysters were once abundant in the waterways of the Big Apple, but overharvesting and pollution caused a serious decline in their numbers. The bivalves contribute significantly to a healthy marine ecosystem by removing nitrogen and suspended solids as they filter the water for food. They also bunch together to form reefs that protect the coast against tidal surges, provide habitat for smaller organisms and help prevent beach erosion. Students and volunteers with the Billion Oyster Project, based on Governors Island, have been reintroducing the aquatic species to New York Harbor since 2014. To date they have planted over 45 million live oysters, and the early research stations show that the water-breathing animals are doing well. Three cheers, Billion Oyster Project, and all involved! Your devoted efforts are a wonderful investment in our planet’s future, with blessings of the Providence.

UN agency salvages produce for school lunches.

When farmers in Kenya grow crops for export, only the best-looking vegetables are selected. Typically, many metric tons of ugly but edible produce are trashed each day. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is changing that. For three schools in the capital city of Nairobi, the UN agency was able to obtain almost five metric tons of green beans, peas and broccoli – enough to serve lunch to 2,200 children for 75 school days. The initiative serves to combat hunger and at the same time provides a powerful incentive for students to continue attending classes. God bless you, United Nations World Food Programme, for your marvelous and long-standing mission! We pray that all nations will soon embrace veganism as the solution to acute food shortages and the only means to achieve peace.

Researchers open happiness exhibition in Copenhagen.

For years staff members at the Happiness Research Institute have been studying data on the causes and effects of subjective well-being. They have often received requests for permission to visit from people who think it must be a fun place. So, the institute decided to open a small interactive museum to satisfy people’s curiosity and share some of their findings. The public is now welcome to explore what happiness means in different cultures around the globe from within a cozy 240-square-meter space. Visitors learn that happiness is a feeling that needs to be nurtured, and with practice we can learn to adjust our point of view and see things in a more positive light. Our delighted applause, Happiness Research Institute! May your uplifting discoveries help to improve quality of life for citizens everywhere, in Heaven’s mercy.

Coming up, analysts predict strong growth for textured vegetable protein market. We will take a moment to pray for the ability to feel what others feel, to give selflessly of ourselves to alleviate someone else’s suffering. By rekindling empathy and compassion may we create a more loving and healthier atmosphere on our planet. More generous news when we return! Please stay with us here on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News - Munificent News for a Benevolent World.

Industry report sees greater consumer interest in protein from vegetables.

Textured vegetable protein (TVP) is a manufactured food ingredient derived from soybeans. It has a texture similar to ground beef and is often used as a meat substitute. According to MarketsandMarkets, a research firm headquartered in India, the value of the global market for TVP will grow an average of 6.2% annually, reaching US$1.5 billion by 2025. This development is founded on increasing demand in Europe and North America for meat alternatives and a heightened consumer awareness of the connection between food and health. Adding to the product’s appeal are its versatility, lack of cholesterol and low cost. Many thanks, MarketsandMarkets, for your encouraging report! May we soon see brighter days as humanity achieves a vegan world, colored by kindness, in the all-embracing love of the Divine.

Famous whale gives birth to lively baby.

The waterways just west of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, are home to three schools of orcas. Researchers have labeled the pods J, K and L, and in September 2020 whale watchers noticed a little one swimming with the J pod. The Center for Whale Research was able to identify the mother as J35, nicknamed Tahlequah. This is especially heartwarming news because her previous offspring, born in 2018, did not survive. Tahlequah attracted international attention when she carried her dead calf with her for 17 days. Orcas were listed as endangered in 2005, and conservationists view every successful birth as significant for their survival. Way to go, Tahlequah and diligent researchers! May the Providence protect the black and white cuties and prepare a bright future for this species.

We bet you won’t be able to hold back a laugh when you hear today’s joke entitled, “Offer to Help.”

Young Danny was walking home from Sunday school, still thinking about what the teacher had said. When he entered his house, he saw his parents setting the kitchen table for brunch.

“Uh, can I help you with something?”

“Oh, how kind of you, Danny! No, but I appreciate your asking.”

“Whew! Well, I appreciate your saying no.”
