In today’s news, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) helps vulnerable in Ukraine (Ureign) prepare for cold winter, British research paper warns animal-people factories heighten chances of new pandemics, global companies call for stronger governmental policies to stop nature loss, Italian scientists develop innovative robot dog for cleaning up cigarette butts, tearful 10-year-old boy from Texas, USA, happily donates part of his savings to homeless man with cancer, vegan cosmetics brand in Indonesia receives investment boost, and 4,300 baby flamingo-citizens hatch at Türkiye’s Lake Tuz this year.

The more one learns about food and health, the more one realizes that an organic vegan diet really is the smartest choice we can make. Today, I'd like to share a tip on how to detoxify rice while still keeping the nutrients. Unfortunately, due to chemical runoff and pesticide usage, many areas that grow rice are polluted. Researchers from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom discovered that a technique called Parboiling with Absorption (PBA) as the most effective method for reducing arsenic while keeping nutrients intact. Start by boiling rice in plenty of water for five minutes, then discard the water. Next, add fresh water and cook until it’s fully absorbed. This method eliminates around 54% of arsenic from brown rice and 73% from white rice, while preserving vital nutrients such as phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and manganese. Plus, the PBA method is more efficient, using less water, energy, and time compared to other methods.

The joke of the day has been heated up and is ready to serve fresh and hot! This one's called “Balloons.”

Two friends were admiring some hot air balloons in the distance.

“Wow, look at those hot air balloons! They seem so peaceful and tranquil. I wish I could be like that.”

“I don’t know… I have been eating lots of junk food for some weeks now…. my stomach has really ballooned, and I’m not very peaceful or tranquil.”

And now we have a heartline from Beatrice in Australia
