A report by Selene Gatti and Helena Spongenberg, and backed by the Environmental Journalism fund Europe, reveals the harmful impact of animal-people industrial operations on local environments and residents. Besides generating up to 87% of global greenhouse gas emissions, these factories produce hydrogen sulfide and ammonia, which cause flu-like symptoms and respiratory illness. When discharged into the air, ammonia changes to cancer-causing particulate matter 2.5, which penetrates the lungs and bloodstream. Moreover, the noise, odors, and water pollution from the factories damage local residents’ mental and physical health. The overcrowding and poor hygiene common to intensive production methods increase the risk of pandemics and spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Our appreciation, journalists, for raising awareness about the effects of animal-people factories. May your report encourage people to adopt veganism for the sake of humanity and our planet, in Divine grace.
