Number 73. Before that was number 72? If I say 73, now you make it 72. Now this is the real 73. Number 72 is now supposed to be number 73? It is very important, the number. Now, this is 72, but [it] becomes 73. “Before desire and before knowing, how can I say I am? Consider.” Consider this mystical, nonsensical koan and then, “Dissolve in the Beauty.” The Beauty – this means the One, the Almighty, the Original, GOD, the Creator, etc., etc. So the Master uses many names for the Creator or GOD. So sometimes He says That, or This, or the One, the Tao, the Indivisible, the Unfathomable. And the Beauty, or the Father, or the Beloved, or the Mysterious Force, or the Positive Power, or the Inner Master, etc., etc.
So, what the Master meant is, I suppose, if we never had any desire, or any knowledge of knowing this and that and others, or good and bad and evil, and virtues, then how can we even know that we exist? Is that not so? If you just sit here, or in samadhi, you don’t even have the “I,” you don’t have [the] “me,” you don’t have anything. Is that right? (Yes.) Then of course you don’t have the “I,” the ego, or the existence of the individual physical self. Therefore, consider this. Anytime desire comes, anytime something arises that makes you produce the discrimination sense, then begin to consider immediately that before that; before I knew good and bad, virtues and evil, beauty and ugliness, where was I? How am I? What am I? Who am I? So that’s what it is, I guess. Then if you keep considering all this in a deep sense of pondering, then you probably will enter and dissolve yourself into the Beauty, into the One.
Number 74. “O Shakti.” He’s so romantic. “Each particular perception is limited, disappearing in omnipotence.” Now, perhaps what He meant is… I’m 99% sure that He meant, even though we are very democratic here, I decide everything. Whatever I say is 99.9% correct. (Yes.) You have 0.1% free will and democracy. Now, 99% of my opinion is that the Master meant that any of your perceptions are nothing – very, very, very insignificant compared to the omnipotence. The omnipotent attribute of the Most High will dissolve any of your preconceived ideas, any of your opinions, any of your limited perceptions about the world, about the Tao, about the Truth, about every other kind of argumentative nonsense. So, anytime the ego rises up and thinks, makes us think that we know this, we know that, we understand this, we understand that, and we’re above others, we’re better than anybody else, etc., etc., and our opinion is the only one and 99.999% correct, then we must remember that even we, the mighty thinker, are absolutely nothing in this omnipotent Power of GOD. Capiche? (Oh, yes.) So you see, these are all kinds of methods to catch the mind back and then make him concentrate on what we want, and that’s what it is.
Seventy-five. Now. “In truth, in reality, all forms are inseparate. Inseparate are the omnipresent Being as well as your own form. Therefore, realize each form as made of this omnipresent Consciousness.” Well, it’s the same like upstairs. Anyhow, do I have to explain? No. You know already. (No.) No? It’s the same like just above, the above mentioned. That means if you... Oh, 99%, huh? It means that in reality, there is no such thing as form, as separate individual characters and objects. There’s only one omnipresent Power pervading everything, and made everything, and everything is made from this Consciousness, from this Almighty, omnipresent Consciousness. So try to remember this, or realize it, by the power of concentration during your spiritual practice. That’s what it is. Simple, is it not? (Yes.) I know you know already.
Seventy-six: “When you encounter the moods of extreme desire, be undisturbed.” Can you? Here, brother, do you want to sit there? Oh, you think you are on the end of the line like last time? No, we dissolved the line now. Now we have made it into Yin Yang. “When you encounter the moods of extreme desire, be undisturbed.” Can you be undisturbed in the face of extreme desires? You can, huh? I know you can. I’m sure you can. I’m positive. Just try to be undisturbed and that’s all, very simple. Look at the monks, what they do. That’s what they do. They just brush it off, just like when you go to a construction site and then there’s a lot of dust, you just shake it off. And be undisturbed, like nothing has happened. It’s difficult but it’s not impossible. Difficult, but everything is difficult. You want to play football, is it easy? (No.) Nah. You want to be an Olympic weightlifting champion. Easy? (No.) No. You have to practice many years and 10 hours at least a day. And the referee will kick you in the you-know-where, nearly every day to make you stand up, despite your aching bones and your crippled knees, and he doesn’t care. And you want to be the skating champion, is it easy? (No.) Ooh, ice skating, you know, what? You’ve seen the movies. (Yes.) The girl, she landed on her you-know-what, a hundred times a day. I don’t know how she could bear it. It’s real. It hurts. And even if you want to be a movie star, is that easy? (No.) Neh. So, even if you want to have a baby, is it easy? Neh. So get it. Huh? (Yes.) So even that is difficult.
Even if you want to eat, is it easy? (No.) No! First you have to find money. And in order to find money, you have to find a job. And in order to find a job, you must learn. In order to be able to learn, you must go to school. In order to go to school, your parents must work and pay tax. And in order to receive the tax, the government must build a school. And then the teachers must train themselves to be qualified. It takes ages, just to eat. Nothing more simple than eating and then see how difficult it is already. And when you were born, do you know how to eat? (No.) Neh. See, see? You have to learn four years just to practice to put something in your mouth. Now tell me, what is easy in this world? (Yes.) And you put anything in your mouth, in the beginning, instead of food. Right? (Yes.) When your parents give you food, you... Pbbt. You throw it out. And then when you’re hungry, you put newspapers, and toilet tissues, umbrella, socks, toys, plastic cups, anything into your mouth. And you learn by tasting. Later you learn, oh this is very hard, etc., etc. Do you see? Nothing is easy. And you learn how to walk. Woo! How long? Two years. (Yes.) At least. (Yes.) Or one and a half years. No, I mean you walk properly in three years. Right? (Yes.) Or at two years you still fall down now and again. It’s very simple to walk but it takes long years to learn and practice. (Yes.) Many of you still don’t know how to walk now. You walk like this. And when you see a man or woman, you walk even worse. You walk into trees and bump into walls when you see the opposite sex, etc. So don’t tell me you know how to walk yet. Now, is it easy, anything? (No.) Nothing’s easy. (Yes.)
Come to think of it. Oh, really, it’s a difficult world. But everybody loves this world. And then, when I tell them to meditate, eat vegan and practice, keep the precepts, they say, “Oh, it’s too hard.” I think it’s the easiest thing to do, to be vegan. And you don’t have to shop anywhere. Just go directly to the vegan cheese counters and tofu. (Yes.) And no need to look anywhere to see if the fish(-person) meat is fresh, or the (animal-person) steak is lousy, no need. (Yes.) Just go straight to the tofu. Isn’t that more simple? (Yes.) Simple life. (Yes.) And now, if you go on holiday, you just go straight to Miaoli. There’s nowhere… You see, Christmas, you don’t have to buy anything. No turkey(-people) meat. No Christmas tree nonsense, all this. No cutting any trees. You just go straight on the airplane and land in Hsihu. It’s a very simple life now, indeed. (Yes.) Yeah. And when you went on holiday before, you would pack a lot of useless stuff. Now you go to Hsihu, what do you pack? Sleeping bag, that’s all. Just make sure you don’t forget that. And the… (ID card.) yeah, initiation card. Yeah, so simple. You can forget your passport, but not the initiation card. Can you imagine a more simple life? (No.) No. And then, no need [for] clothing, nothing. Well, except when we’re in Chicago and Hawaii. Normally, just easy sports shoes, easy sports clothing, and sleeping bag, that’s all you need. And here you don’t even need to bathe if you don’t want to. You save a lot of trouble. Your life becomes more and more simple, thanks to the Supreme Master Ching Hai Tzu. See, Christmas, go to Miaoli. (Yes.) New Years, (Miaoli.) Miaoli. Buddha’s birthday, (Miaoli.) Miaoli. And nothing else. See? So simple and pure.
